| Bio: | Geoffrey Tennant was an accomplished and gifted stage actor: that is, until he had a complete mental breakdown during a performance of Hamlet directed by his friend Oliver Welles over seven years ago. After a period of time in a psychiatric facility, Geoffrey eventually returned to the theatre in the role of artistic director for a nonprofit group called Théâtre Sans Argent based in a large, rundown warehouse in Toronto, while his former friend and his now ex-girlfriend Ellen Fanshaw continued their careers at New Burbage. There is little love lost between the three of them, but when Oliver is killed in an accident after falling inebriated into the street, Geoffrey delivers a blistering eulogy that decries the commercialism dominating the New Burbage theatre. Just a day later, he finds himself offered a position at the New Burbage theatre as the interim Artistic Director ... and after clashing with the guest director for the same play that drove him insane seven years ago, has to then pick up the reins himself with no budget, nowhere near enough time and with nowhere near the mental capacity to cope with it all. Oh, and did we mention that Geoffrey's got the spectre of his dead friend bothering him to deal with, too? | |||||||||
